Steve O'Keefe was named the Man of the Match for picking up 6/35 in both innings to end with a match haul of 12/70. (BCCI)

15:26 hrs IST: That is all from us here. Join us in a week’s time for the second Test between India and Australia from Bangalore.

15:17 hrs IST: Steve O’Keefe is understandably the Man of the Match. “First innings was a bit of blur. The ball tended to skid on more than spin so it exposed the stumps and the lbw. My first six wickets was ordinary, I had to change it up quickly. I’ll remember the Hill End forever now. It was great to have the belief of the captain who backed me after my first six overs.

15:15 hrs IST: Steven Smith is glad to break this jinx. “Winning the toss was a bonus, there were good plans in place. O’Keefe was outstanding. We’ve got some good players of spin and good spinners. It’s been 4502 days since Australia won a Test in India, I know it to the day. Mitchell Starc’s batting in the first innings was important. To have a lead of 155 is massive on this wicket.”

Nathan Lyon celebrates as Australia ended India’s undefeated streak of 20 Tests. (BCCI)

15:12 hrs IST: Virat Kohli sums up the fact that India were totally outplayed. “It’s been a good run. We got to take it on the chin, accept that they outplayed us. It was our worst batting display in the last two years. We need to see what we did wrong. Australia put us under pressure throughout and deserved to win this game. We had two bad sessions and to pull it back against a quality side is very difficult. No excuses. Sometimes, you have to take your hat off and tell the opposition well done.”

15:06 hrs IST: What a way for Virat Kohli to suffer his first defeat at home. What a way for India’s 20-match undefeated streak to end. The match aggregate of 212 runs for India is the least in a home Test, the previous lowest being 247 vs England in 1977.

15:01 hrs IST: Nathan Lyon says, “Our plan was to compete hard, we did. We saw a lot of Ashwin, and we tried to replicate what he does in these conditions. I’ll take this pitch everywhere.”

14:05 hrs IST: Dropped! Pujara looks to work an offspinner from Lyon to fine leg but David Warner drops it at leg gully. These chances stick or they don’t but knowing Warner’s class, that should have been taken.
