Arpit Vasavada has built a reputation as one of Saurashtra's most dependable domestic batters, with his patient, technically sound approach making him particularly valuable in first-class cricket. A left-hander from Rajkot, he came through the Saurashtra system and made his first-class debut against Railways in 2011. He played his first T20 in the same year as well, but made his List A debut two years prior in 2009. His early career also brought him into the West Zone setup, but it was with Saurashtra that he established himself as a key member of a side that would go on to become one of India's strongest domestic teams.
Vasavada's batting has always been built around concentration and the ability to absorb pressure. He is comfortable occupying the crease for long periods, rotating the strike and waiting for the right opportunities rather than forcing the pace. That temperament earned him a reputation as Saurashtra's crisis man, something he demonstrated repeatedly during their deep Ranji Trophy runs.
Vasavada cemented his reputation as Saurashtra's ultimate knockout performer during their maiden Ranji Trophy triumph in 2019–20, scoring a crucial century in the semi-final against Gujarat followed by a fantastic 106 in the final against Bengal. He elevated his game further during a blockbuster 2022–23 campaign, amassing 907 runs at an average of 75.58 to earn the official Player of the Tournament award. That standout season was headlined by three regular-season centuries, a monumental then-career-best double-hundred (202) in the semi-final against Karnataka, and a captain's knock of 81 in the final against Bengal to secure Saurashtra's second title in three years.
His importance to Saurashtra has not been limited to his batting. Vasavada has also taken on leadership responsibilities, including captaining the side when Jaydev Unadkat was unavailable. His calm approach extended to his decision-making on the field, with his handling of bowlers and field placements praised during Saurashtra's run to the 2023 Ranji Trophy final.
Despite his red-ball exploits, Vasavada has also proven to be a vital contributor in white-ball cricket for Saurashtra, playing key roles in two major Vijay Hazare Trophy campaigns. During the 2017–18 tournament, he scored 273 runs in 8 matches at a brilliant average of 68.25 to help propel Saurashtra to the final. He was equally influential in their 2022–23 Vijay Hazare Trophy title-winning run, racking up 301 runs across 10 games, including an unbeaten century at a stellar average of 75.25.
The left-hander has continued to provide Saurashtra with valuable contributions well into the latter stages of his career. During the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, he accumulated 433 runs in seven matches at an average of 48.11, including five fifties, with 96 his highest score. He also produced another 96 against Chandigarh in January 2026, once again showing the consistency and composure that have defined his career. As expected, he was named in the Saurashtra squad for the 2026/27 Ranji Trophy.
