Born on June 5, 1992, in Delhi, Dhruv Shorey is a technically accomplished top-order batter whose patient accumulation, deep concentration, and heavy scoring have made him one of the premier stalwarts of India’s domestic circuit.
Shorey began his first-class career representing Delhi, where he established his reputation as a red-ball anchor. His defining early moment came during the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy final, where he scored a gritty, unbeaten century (145) for Delhi against Vidarbha in Indore. He later notched his career-best first-class score of 252 not out against Assam in December 2022. His consistent domestic returns also earned him an IPL contract with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, followed by leadership and marquee batting duties for India A and zonal sides in the Duleep Trophy.
Looking for a fresh challenge, Shorey moved ahead of the 2023 domestic season to represent Vidarbha, instantly cementing his place at the top of their batting order. His prolific run reached unprecedented heights in white-ball cricket. During the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored centuries in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final.
Carrying that form into the start of the 2025-26 50-over campaign in December 2025, Shorey struck two more back-to-back centuries (including 136 against Bengal and 109* against Hyderabad) to achieve five consecutive List A centuries (118*, 114, 110, 136, and 109*) - equalling the world record for the most consecutive hundreds in List A history.
Entering the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season in October 2026, Shorey kicked off Vidarbha's campaign with a fluent 69 in the second innings against Pondicherry.
