Morne Morkel

Born in Vereeniging, the 1.96-meter fast bowler ran in with a pounding stride, leveraging his immense shoulder strength to extract sharp, dangerous lift off even the deadest of surfaces. Morkel made his Test debut against India at Durban in December 2006, replacing an injured Steyn, before taking his One-Day International debut for the Africa XI against the Asia XI at Bangalore in June 2007. Over an illustrious 12-year international career spanning 86 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20Is until his international farewell in March 2018, he proved to be an indispensable spearhead. In Test cricket, he snared 309 wickets at an average of 27.66 with 8 five-wicket hauls, etching his name into history as the fifth South African bowler to breach the 300-Test wicket landmark.
