Subtle in flight, deceptive in trajectory, and gifted with a sharp cricketing intellect, Shikhar Shetty is one of the brightest young spin-bowling prospects emerging from Karnataka. Born on August 27, 2005, Shetty brings a calm, mature character to the field.
Shetty began his cricket journey as a schoolboy in Karnataka, devoting endless hours to mastering the classic art of finger spin. He rapidly made a name for himself across Karnataka age-group tournaments. In the Cooch Behar Trophy, his ability to bowl long, disciplined spells and capture prolific wicket hauls made him the frontline spinner for the Karnataka Under-19 team.
His outstanding junior record was recognized when Karnataka selectors drafted him into the senior 15-member squad for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. His promotion into a dressing room containing seasoned international and domestic veterans accelerated his technical development and tactical understanding.
His upward trajectory reached new heights in the 2026 Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, where he delivered sensational performances for the Hubli Tigers. In matches against top sides, he repeatedly stood out - headlined by a match-winning spell of 3 for 19 in 4 overs against the Bengaluru Blasters and tight four-over spells yielding economy rates well under six runs per over against opposition like the Shivamogga Lions and Gulbarga Mystics.
Heading into October 2026, he stood out as one of Karnataka's most promising slow left-arm bowling assets as the state prepares for its 2026-27 campaign.
