Continuing his sublime run on the domestic circuit, Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw slammed a sensational double century to strengthen his selection case during the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy. Leading Mumbai's batting charge in the Elite Group B match against Gokul Sharma-led Assam, premier opener Shaw notched up his double ton before the end of the third session at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati on Tuesday.

After Assam won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat first, Shaw slammed a memorable double and the star batter reached the historic mark in just 235 balls on the opening day of the Ranji encounter. Shaw had brought up his century in just 107 deliveries prior to the Lunch break at Guwahati. Interestingly, Shaw had played a sizzling knock of 134 against Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year.
Talking more about the Ranji encounter between Mumbai and Assam, Shaw remained unbeaten on 240 on Day 1 as Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai managed to score 397/2 in 90 overs at the Amingaon Cricket Ground. While Shaw smashed 33 fours and a six in his entertaining knock of 240*, captain Rahane remained unbeaten on 73 off 140 balls. Before notching up his double century, opener Shaw had scored only 160 runs in 7 innings for Mumbai. The 23-year-old has played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 1 T20I for Team India.
