Half-centuries from Prithvi Shaw (70), Shreyas Iyer (54) and Ishan Kishan (50) powered India A to a huge win by 125 runs over an England Cricket Board XI, in their first tour match at Headingley on Sunday.

India A team under the coach Rahul Dravid are set to play an unofficial one-day series against England Lions and West Indies A later this month, and the three Indian prospects announced their form in their team’s win.

India A put up 328/8 in 50 overs, and according to ESPNCricinfo, the hosts were bowled out for a mere 203 in 36.5 overs with none of their batsmen managing a half-century. ECB XI’s No 7 batsman Matt Critchley top scored with 40 off 48 balls.

Opening the innings, Shaw raced to a 61-ball 70 with the help of seven fours and three sixes. While his partner Mayank Agarwal managed a mere four, No 3 batsman Hanuma Vihari scored 38.

Iyer, who has played six ODIs and as many T20Is for India, scored a brisk 45-ball 54 with five fours and one six. On the other hand, the explosive Kishan who had earlier replaced Sanju Samson in the squad for failing the yo-yo Test, smacked two sixes and four fours in his 46-ball 50.

Deepak Chahar was the pick among the Indian bowlers in his spell of 7.5-0-48-3, whereas left-arm spin all-rounder Axar Patel was measly as he returned with the figures of 5-0-21-2.

The others in M Prasidh Krishna, Khalil Ahmed, Krunal Pandya and Vijay Shankar claimed one wicket each.

While the Indian team had three players in Iyer, Shankar and Axar with international experience, none in the England Cricket Board XI team had any with such exposure.
