Ravi Shastri dares Virat Kohli for PadMan challenge, Akshay Kumar gives reply

Ravi Shastri, Indian cricket team coach, has become the latest celebrity to join PadMan Challenge. A host of other famous sports personalities have taken PadMan Challenge ahead of the release of the Akshay Kumar-starrer movie Pad Man on February 9.

The 55-year-old, who is currently in South Africa with Indian cricket team, took to Twitter on Tuesday and posted a picture of him with sanitary pad. He also tagged Indian captain Virat Kohli and tennis player Leander Paes in his post asking them to take the challenge that is aimed at spreading awareness about menstruation and sanitation.

“Yes, it’s a Pad in my hand. Happy to support rockstar @akshaykumar for breaking the taboo and initiating an open conversation. AK, am sure no ball is going to hit PAD (MAN). #PadManChallenge Here I challenge @imVkohli @SinghaniaGautam @Leander”,” Shastri wrote in his tweet.

Shastri’s effort was appreciated by Akshay Kumar.

The movie is based on the life of entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who had first started the campaign to spread awareness about menstruation.

Muruganantham had tagged Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna. Twinkle then spread the challenge in Bollywood by nominating Aamir Khan and Shabana Azmi. And now sports fraternity of the country has joined the challenge too.

Earlier, ace shuttler PV Sindhu had also taken the PadMan Challenge after being nominated by Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.

“Thank you for tagging me @deepikapadukone ! Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand. Periods are normal. Just another day…#PadManChallenge,” Sindhu had written on her Instagram post accompanying the picture.

Wrestler Geeta Phogat also took the PadMan challenge.

Other celebrities like Athiya Shetty, Bhumi Pednekar also took the Padman challenge.
