RCB vs CSK, IPL 2023 Highlights: Chennai keep Bangalore's epic chase at bay, win by 8 runs

Dube is on 32 off 17, Conway on 72 off 41. This innings is going off into the stratosphere but one has to remember that this is the Chinnaswamy, the batter's paradise. RCB will be able to take advantage of these same conditions that will actually end up becoming a bit more favourable for batters due to dew. So CSK really need to get an absurdly high score here.

Dube clubs the second ball of the 13th over long-on. Harshal had missed a slow yorker, came as a full toss and Dube latches on to it. Dube has raced to 16 in 8 balls.

Fourth ball of the 11th being bowled by Maxwell, Dube smashes the full ball back over the bowler's head. That ball has gone probably 10 stories high before hitting the roof of the stadium and falling into the stands below. A monster six if there ever was one. CSK go past 100 in 10.4 overs. 

He gets there in 32 balls. Conway looking quite assured now and RCB would be quite aware of the dangers of a situation like that. Shivam Dube is at the other end now.

Rahane swings away, misses the wron'un entirely and the ball hits the off stump.

The partnership between Rahane and Conway is on 67 off 40 balls. Conway seems to be finding his feet now after the end of the powerplay, he didn't seem so fluid during the first six overs. Rahane, on the other hand, has looked very good indeed. He is on 37 off 19, Conway on 42 off 29.

Hip-hight short ball from Harshal, Conway smashes it over midwicket. This partnership is turning into a real problem for RCB. 

Maxwell bowling the seventh over, the fifth ball is on a length outside off and Conway launches it over the bowler's head for a six.

Parnell ends that over with a delivery that is a bit too full on middle and leg, Rahane uses his wrists and flicks it to the the midwicket boundary. He has raced to 28 off 14, Conway is on 22 off 16.

Parnell goes full and on the legs, Rahane doesn't move and nonchalantly flicks that ball over the boundary.

Short of a length for the third ball, Rahane pulls it and the ball flies away to the roof! This is Ajinkya Rahane, India's former Test vice-captain, who has just sent a ball to the roof and it is not about power, it is about pure timing and class.

Local boy Vyshak Kumar bowls the fifth and the first one is scooped fine by Conway to the boundary.

Siraj gets Gaikwad for the first time in the IPL. He gets a wicket again in the powerplay and it is partly thanks to a good catch from Wayne Parnell at long leg. Gaikwad picks up the fullish delivery but can't get the distance on it.

Conway scoops the last ball over fine leg for the first maximum of the night. 13 runs off that over.

Parnell bowling the second over, the third ball is full on Conway's pads and the Kiwi opener tucks it away to the mid-wicket boundary.

Conway was beaten on the inside edge off the third ball. Siraj has been a tough prospect to face in the powerplay this season and he has a great start yet again.

Pommie Mbangwa asked Dhoni his first question amid utterly incredible noise from the crowd when the latter stepped up. “The toss does matter because this is a venue where it is difficult to contain batters in the second innings. And not to forget dew. I think what's important is not looking ahead, maybe 180-200 is a par score but we need to keep re-evaluating every 3-4 overs on where we stand and what would be a good total to get to. The good think is all the players who have come in to replace guys have performed well. But these injuries haven't been ideal, but that's what happens because the IPL comes at the end of the cricket season.”

It is quite a small ground and the ball travels, the surface is good and a little bit of dew could help. No changes in our starting XI but got some tricks up our sleeve for the impact player.”

That's because the leg side boundary is just 60m and the other side isn't much further at 66m. The longest hit is straight down the ground at 71m. The pitch looks very good, there is a 20 run difference between the day games and the night games. DC got knocked over under 150 but that is not relevant because this is night time and there is huge potential to get big runs today. The only concern as a batter is that the middle areas of the pitch look very dry, and it is extremely hard. From the other end though it looks like a batting paradise.
