The injury also curtailed his preparations for the England tour starting August 1 as he couldn’t go for his maiden county stint with Surrey. After scans, Kohli was assessed by BCCI medical team and a specialist and was advised rehab.

Despite carrying injury Kohli featured in the RCB’s next match against Rajasthan Royals. Other Indian ODI and T20 team players who are part of the squad—Siddharth Kual, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzuvendra Chahal were in the second pack. While both Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah were rested ahead of long and grueling tour of England, Kohli was the only one carrying injury.

This will be Kohli’s second injury break. He hurt his shoulder while fielding in a Test match in Ranchi against Australia which ruled him out for the most of 2017 IPL.
