Watch: Shakib Al Hasan loses temper again, enters ground and engages in verbal spat with umpire in another meltdown
Veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was seen having another heated argument with the match official in the action-packed Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Days after courting controversy in the action-packed Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was seen having another heated argument with the match official. It all happened when Shakib-led Fortune Barishal squared off against Rangpur Riders in match No.7 of the Bangladesh Premier League 2023 on Tuesday. After Fortune Barishal openers walked out to bat at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, skipper Shakib was seen shouting at his batters from the boundary ropes.
Moments later, Shakib decided to take the matter into his own hands. The senior all-rounder charged at the match umpire after Anamul Haque Bijoy was not allowed to take the first strike by the official. Shakib was involved in an animated discussion with the match officials and the video of the incident soon became the talk of the town on social media. As the drama unfolded before a single ball was bowled at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Shakib was also called out by netizens for his antics.
Talking about the match, Nurul Hasan-led Rangpur Riders managed to post 158-7 in 20 overs. Opener Rony Talukdar scored 40 off 28 balls while Shoaib Malik played an unbeaten knock of 54 off 36 balls in the 20-over contest. Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged two wickets for the Shakib-led side. In reply, Fortune Barishal completed the run-chase in 19.2 overs to upstage Rangpur Riders by 6 wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Star batter Ibrahim Zadran slammed a quick-fire 52 off 41 balls while Hasan Miraz chipped in with 43 off 29 balls. Unbeaten knocks from Iftikhar Ahmed (25) and Karim Janat (21) guided Shakib and Co. to a comfortable win over Rangpur Riders.
Hasan Miraz was named the Player of the Match for his all-round show. "I think we put on a better show today. They were batting really well in the 10th over but we came back well in the 2nd half and that changed the momentum. We did not take unnecessary challenges with the bat. Important to build partnerships and Miraz and Ibrahim did that perfectly. Can't get better than that to get a wicket first ball after winning the toss and bowling first," Shakib said after the match.
