The players were divided into two teams, one lead by captain Faf du Plessis and the other by Suyash Prabhudesai in RCB's first intra-squad match of IPL 2023.
ReIn order to prepare for their opening match of the IPL 2023 against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have hit the ground running. As the dust settled following their mega RCB Unboxing event where the hype surrounding the franchise and its star players Virat Kohli and legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle was earth-shaking, it's time for serious business, and for that the players engaged themselves in an instar-squad practice match ahead of their first match at the Chinnaswamy.
The players were divided into two teams, one lead by captain Faf du Plessis called the Faf XI and the other by Suyash Prabhudesai and his Suyash XI. Batting first on what was a belter of a surface, Faf XI scored 215/5 with du Plessis scoring 47, but the man who stole the show was RCB's replacement batter Michael Bracewell of New Zealand who smoked an unbeaten 105 off 55 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes.

Bracewell, who was included in the RCB unit as a replacement for England's Will Jacks, immediately left an impact and has possibly given some selection headaches to du Plessis, coach Mike Hesson and the rest of the team management already. However, Bracewell's efforts went in vain as Suyash XI chased down the target.

"It was nice to get out there at the Chinnaswamy stadium and enjoyed being out there in the middle. It was nice to hit some boundaries. We should be able to pull this one through, but you never know, there are some quality batters in the opposition XI," Bracewell said after his knock.
Come Sunday, RCB might just be tempted to give a game to Bracewell for as many as 4 reasons. A: He is an all-rounder, B: Chinnaswamy isn't the biggest stadium in India, C: the way he batted yesterday and D: the most important, what he did against India back in January. Playing the 3rd ODI in Hyderabad, Bracewell blasted 140, his effort nearly taking New Zealand over the line in the series decider. Having said that, Bracewell's bat has failed to fire… until last evening.
