Chief minister lays foundation for Himalayan Research Centre at Dehradun varsity

Rawat said that the institute would start functioning within a year.

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Friday laid the foundation stone for the Himalayan Research and Study Centre here on the premises of Doon University, stating that the institute would help fill a crucial gap in the research relating to the Uttarakhand Himalaya.

“The Himalayan ecology appears stressed due to various factors (like climate change) and the entire scenario relating to animal and plant biodiversity is changing fast,” he said, adding that a lot of research on the crucial aspects is therefore required. “The proposed institute would help bridge that gap,” Rawat said.

He said that the institute would start functioning within a year.
