High court grants anticipatory bail to eunuch leader Ranji Rawat

The SSP said five people who were seen in the video have been arrested so far.

Eunuch leader Rajni Rawat, accused of attacking, tonsuring and parading naked Ajay Pal, a
17-year-old transgender, has been granted anticipatory bail by the Uttarakhand high court, SSP Nivedita Kukreti Kumar said on Wednesday.

Rawat’s supporters also met the SSP and said that their livelihood has been endangered due to the protest oraganised against them by Ajay’s supporters on Tuesday. The SSP said five people who were seen in the video have been arrested so far.

“Ajay’s supporters have a right to protest. Police will arrest only those who were involved in the attack. Rajni Rawat has been granted anticipatory bail by the high court. If Ajay and her supporters are dissatisfied, they can approach the court,” she said.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Ajay and her supporters organised a protest rally in Dehradun and accused the police of being lax in arresting Rawat and other accused in the case.
