The Board of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has approved engagement of 1,000 low-floor air-conditioned buses in the city, transport minister Kailash Gahlot said on Tuesday evening.

Gahlot said the project proposal will now be put up in the Delhi cabinet for approval so that the buses are rolled out in the city as soon as possible.

Hindustan Times had on August 27 reported about the state transport utility’s fresh plan to bring 1000 low-floor buses, against its initial plan of getting the same number of non-AC standard floor buses, which are not disabled friendly.

DTC officials, on condition of anonymity, said the Board has decided to get these buses on “joint ownership” model.
