Smoke in metro train causes panic at Kaushambi station, passengers deboard

After all the compartment passengers got down at Kaushambi station, the train remained stationed there for about 5-7 minutes.

Panic gripped passengers in a Metro train when some of them spotted smoke inside the compartment. The train was moving towards Kaushambi when the incident took place. A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson said the smoke probably emanated from the brakes.

“The smoke emerged from the braking system and the passengers debaorded when it reached Kaushambi. There was no serious issue. The incident did not hamper the movement of other train,” the spokesperson said.

“It is highly unlikely that somebody was smoking,” the spokesperson added.

Both Vaishali and Kaushambi are the two operational metro train stations in Ghaziabad. Thousands of passengers arrive daily from localities like Vaishali, Kaushambi, Indirapuram and Delta colonies to take metro trains to Delhi.
