BJP attacks govt over CAG report on ads
NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday targeted the Delhi government and said that it will start approaching various RWAs of the city to apprise them about the CAG report on expenditure on advertisements by the Arvind Kejriwal government
The BJP also threatened to call a Lok Vidhan Sabha at Jantar Mantar if the Delhi government did not announce a special session of the assembly to table the CAG report before the people.
Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that CM Arvind Kejriwal and deputy CM Manish Sisodia had held the CAG reports up like religious scriptures in the past. The very same leaders, ironically, he said were now running away from placing the report before the people.
“The government is scared about the CAG report coming out in the public domain as this can convince the people about Kejriwal government’s misuse of public money on advertisements in other states with intent of political expansion,” said Upadhyay.
Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta, attacked the Delhi government and said that the CAG has forwarded its audit report to the Delhi government on the financial irregularities during the 2015-16 period, but deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia did not submit the report before the house and twice said that this report had not been received by the government.
“The government did not want to make public the reports on the government advertisements and other bungling. Hence, in order to avoid a debate in the House, the deputy chief minister misled the legislative assembly. According to the rules this report must have been tabled and debated in the House,” said Gupta.
No one from the Delhi government could be reached for a comment despite repeated attempts.
