No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

The police said Heena couldn’t pay her hostel fee, and got upset when her male friend refused to lend her money. She then locked herself in a room at his house and hanged herself.

“Her friend was cooking in the kitchen when the duo had an argument and she locked herself in a room. He didn’t take the matter seriously. Later, when he did knock on the door, she didn’t respond,” said a senior police officer.

Heena’s friend said he had to break open the door to get in. He had hung herself with her dupatta.

Police said he raised an alarm and rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Police were informed by the hospital authorities.

He told the police they were to get married soon. He was to visit Heena’s family in Bareilly to fix the wedding dates.
