Speaking at an interactive session organised by LSR’s department of economics, he took questions about the impact of Britain’s exit from the European Union on India-UK relations.

“India-UK relations are still going strong and this tumultuous chain of events, which has affected other developing countries, would not bring as many fluctuations to the economy,” he said.

He called India as one of the ‘very few bright spots’ and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for high growth rates, and low inflation. He talked about India’s improved logistics ranking from 54 to 35 in the last two years which showed that the government machinery was working well.

He emphasised on the need to address climate change as he talked about renewable energy and appreciated PM Modi’s plans to produce 175 GW of solar power in the coming years.
