1 booked for bid to bomb house of accused

The Delhi Police have booked a man under the explosive Act, a day after he was caught with two live crude bombs meant to explode outside the house of Ram Singh, one of the six gangrape accused, at Ravidas Camp slums in south Delhi's RK Puram Sector-3.

The apprehended person has been identified as Rajesh Panwar, 35, a resident of Neb Sarai in south Delhi. Panwar was produced before a duty magistrate on Tuesday which sent him to one-day police custody remand. Police are interrogating him to find out from where Panwar had procured the crude bombs.

A senior police officer said Panwar, who earlier ran a chemist shop, looks mentally unfit and it has been learnt that his wife has separated from him a few years ago.

"We recovered a paper from his possession in which he had written that he wants capital punishment for the gangrape accused. He was constantly smiling when we brought him to the RK Puram police station for interrogation. This made us suspect that he is mentally disturbed," said the senior officer.
