According to police, the incident occurred around 7:30 am when the bus, which was plying on route 479, was en route to Bajitpur village near Wazirpur from Badarpur in south Delhi. The bus was allegedly speeding when the accident occurred.

“The bus was supposed to take a right from below the flyover,” said a senior police official.

“The driver lost control of the bus when he realized that he was approaching the flyover and attempted to take a sharp left turn. Due to the vehicle's full speed and alleged low visibility, he didn't see the divider and ended up colliding with it,” added the official.

Police said there were about 25 passengers, including students and women on board the bus when the accident occurred.
“Of the total 25, ten passengers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals,” said the senior police official.

The driver, who allegedly fled the scene, leaving injured passengers to fend for themselves after the accident took place, has been apprehended by police.

“Since the bus was speeding, the driver's recklessness is more to blame than the supposed low visibility,” added the official.
