Ahead of the municipal elections, the Delhi government on Friday handed over flat allotment letters to 115 industrial workers. The flats are in Narela and Bawana.

The DSIIDC, under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme has identified 2,229 industrial workers eligible for the allotments.
“The DSIIDC will continue concentrating on the construction of houses for people belonging to EWS category to make Delhi a slum-free city soon," chief minister Sheila Dikshit said.
Of the 2,229 houses, there are 314 type-I and 23 type-II in Bawana, 228 new type-I, 480 type-I and 1,184 type-III new in Narela.
“The allottees will now enjoy their stay in an environment-friendly locality with amenities like mall, schools, hospitals, shops, bus facility, besides uninterrupted power and drinking water supply,” she said.
Dikshit said the physical possession of flats will be handed over after obtaining the biometric details and conducting the verification. The flats are strictly for residential purpose, officials said.
