The total number of patients affected this season has reached 6,190, officials said.

The cases of the vector-borne disease generally start showing a downward trend with the advent of winter as low temperature and less humidity are not conducive for the breeding of dengue-carrier aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

However, this season, a substantial number of dengue cases per day were being reported till now. Eight persons have lost their lives to dengue this season, the officials said.

Delhi also reported 65 cases of chikungunya this year.
