14-year-old molests minor in south Delhi, detained

A 14-year-old boy was apprehended by the police on Saturday in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area for allegedly molesting his eight-year-old neighbour and injuring her by inserting a pencil in her private parts.

A 14-year-old boy was apprehended by the police on Saturday in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area for allegedly molesting his eight-year-old neighbour and injuring her by inserting a pencil in her private parts.

Both children lived in a slum cluster near Vasant Kunj and used to play together, police said. “The boy had gone to the victim’s house and was sharing the same quilt. He then inserted the pencil in the victim’s private parts,” said a family member. The boy left the house soon after, police sources said.

The incident came to light when the victim complained of pain and her mother saw blood stains on the girl’s clothes, an official said.

“The girl described the ordeal to her mother and the family alerted the police,” he added.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where a medical examination confirmed molestation.

“We have registered a case of molestation under section 376 of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. The juvenile has been apprehended and sent to judicial custody,” said a police official.
