2 hurt during MCD drive

Two siblings were injured Wednesday when part of a building’s ceiling fell on them while it was being demolished by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in south Delhi, police said.

The MCD team was demolishing an illegally-built fourth floor in a Delhi Development Authority flat in Khirki village Wednesday afternoon when a large part of its ceiling fell onto the adjacent house, a police officer said.

Prachi, 10, and Bipin Mishra, 17, were injured in the accident and were rushed to hospital. The MCD officials fled from the spot, the official said. IANS
