25-yr-old woman poisoned, ‘raped’

A 25-year-old housewife has been poisoned, sexually assaulted and beaten up in Gandhi Nagar area, reports Vijaita Singh.

In a brutal incident, a 25-year-old housewife was reportedly poisoned, sexually assaulted and beaten up in Gandhi Nagar area in east Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the three children of the victim—all aged between five and one years—were present at the house when the incident took place. The police said the eldest child is under tremendous shock and is not able to talk. The victim was found lying unconscious in a semi-nude position by her husband on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred in Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi when the victim’s husband had gone for work. He works for a private firm nearby. The victim was present in her ground floor house along with her children.

“The victim’s husband, who had come back home to have lunch around 1.30 pm, noticed that his wife was bleeding and was lying unconscious on the floor,” said a senior police officer.

The door was left open and the children were crying. The victim’s husband rushed her to a nearby hospital.

“The victim was lying semi-nude. She had bruises all over her body. There were injury marks on her private parts as well,” said the officer.

The police said that the victim may have been poisoned before being sexually assaulted. She was found bleeding from her ear and neck and was also frothing.

A case of attempt to rape, criminal trespass, drugging and criminal assault has been registered at the Gandhi Nagar police station.
