2G: SC reserves order on CBI probe against PC

The Supreme Court today reserved its order on Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea for probing home minister P Chidambaram for his alleged role in 2G spectrum scam.

The Supreme Court on Monday reserved its order on Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea for probing home minister P Chidambaram for his alleged role in 2G spectrum scam.

On the last date, the CBI had strongly backed Chidambaram, saying, as the then finance minister he alone could not have cancelled the 122 2G spectrum licences, even as it took place against his ministry's recommendations.

The agency stood up in defence of the home minister after Bhushan contended that the finance ministry could have intervened and stalled allocation of spectrum.

"There was a lot of time between issuance of letters of intent and allocation of spectrum. But, none acted," Bhushan had told the court.
