Police said he planned to stay in a state government hotel near the national highway in Faridabad.
However, he later headed towards the Neelam Road area, when he realised that the tariff of hotels on the national highway was beyond his budget.
On the basis of the complaint filed by the Australian with police station, Central, Faridabad, Danime said that he boarded an auto-rickshaw in which some persons were already present.
The rickshaw driver then took him to a secluded area near Neharpar-Greater Faridabad and looted him.
"We have registered a case under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Sunday," Station Head Officer (SHO) Central Police Station Ajeet Singh said.
"All efforts are being made to nab the culprits and bring them to justice," SHO Singh said. Singh further said that Danime had been looted of Rs 10,000 in cash and some belongings.
