The Central Delhi Police arrested Rajesh Sharma, 43, who was allegedly involved in a series of thefts of laptop and expensive shoes from conference halls of AIIMS, cultural hotspots and temples.

The police said Sharma, a resident of Burari, was caught near Sheela Cinema on Saturday on a tip off that he would come to the locality to sell stolen laptops.

The police said Sharma, a science graduate from DU, had allegedly stolen laptops recently from India Habitat Centre in Lodhi Colony and AIIMS hospital. Two laptops were recovered from him.

"He wanted to lead a lavish life and so turned to stealing laptops," said a senior police officer. The police said he was earlier involved in 15 cases of dealing with fake currency, cheating and laptop thefts.
