601 violators of odd-even scheme challaned on Tuesday

The Delhi traffic police penalised 147 motorists for violating the odd-even vehicular restriction norms, enforcement teams of the government’s transport department fined 240 motorists and revenue department booked 214.

As many as 601 violators of the odd-even scheme were challaned on Tuesday, the 12th day of implementation of car-rationing measures in the national capital.

The police penalised 147 motorists for violating the vehicular restriction norms, enforcement teams of the government’s transport department fined 240 motorists and revenue department booked 214, senior officials said.

On Monday, the authorities had booked 753 violators of the scheme, which will run till January 15.

The odd-even scheme brought by AAP-led Delhi government as part of a pilot plan to cut air pollution in the city was rolled out on January 1.

The rules apply only from Monday to Saturday.
