A joyful trip down memory lane

The bonhomie between the alumni and teachers of Springdales Schools thawed the chill in the air as members of the Old Springdalians Association (OSA) reunited on Friday.

As the alumni recounted their bitter-sweet memories, the atmosphere filled with nostalgia in Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan.

“The values and discipline I have imbibed from my teachers has helped me become the person I am today,” said Manisha Bajaj, a student of 1989 batch.

Rishi Sethi, a student of 1992 batch, recounted the punishments he had received as a student. “The only other time I was on stage was when principal, Dr. Jyoti Bose called me and my friend to show the entire school how we were inappropriately dressed,” recollected Sethi as the audience broke into peals of laughter.

Sethi said among his most prized possession is the shirt he wore on the last day of school signed by all his friends. Shagun Jaina, an alumna of 1999 batch recited a self-composed poem to thank teachers.

The members of OSA choir relived their school days as they sang the school song. They also felicitated the retired as well as senior teachers for their efforts. The school choir added the festive touch to the event as the auditorium filled with melodious Christmas carols.

An exhibition of photographs of Springdales over the years was inaugurated by Rajni Kumar, chairperson, Springdales Education Society. The exhibition showcased the myriad activities of the school and also focused on alumni who have made a mark in different walks of life.
Speaking about the event, Kumar said, “It’s a dream come true for me to see all the students of this institution come together. I would also like to congratulate the OSA who are working on community-based programmes and spreading the Sprindalians’ ethos and values long after they have left the school.”
