The AAP government on Friday moved the Delhi high court seeking a direction to lieutenant governor (L-G) Najeeb Jung to reconsider his decision to scrap the appointment of Krishna Saini as the chairperson of capital’s power regulator DERC.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday also urged Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to reconsider his decision to revoke the appointment of Krishna Saini as chairperson of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, in public interest. (Hindustan Times)
A bench of chief justice G Rohini and justice Jayant Nath did not pass any interim order on the plea and posted the matter for hearing on November 15
L-G Najeeb Jung had on September 21 set aside Saini’s appointment in March to the top post of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), as it was done without taking his approval as mandated under the rules and procedure.
The Delhi government has said that “the order of the LG has only found fault with the process that was followed leading upto or culminating in the selection of the DERC Chief and has not otherwise found him unfit for the post”.
It said the LG’s decision will directly affect “the entire working of the DERC, which performs very essential and significant functions, having a direct bearing and impact on the seamless supply of electricity in the NCTD”.
