Hailing from across the country, supporters had started assembling at the sprawling grounds as early as 7am despite the hazy weather and traffic restrictions. “I have been travelling with Advaniji throughout his yatra,” claimed Ramvir Sharma, 25, from Haryana’s Sonepat. He was among an estimated 10,000 supporters who took up more than two-thirds of the historical grounds adorned in saffron and green caps.
“What he wants is what each common man like me wants — an end to corruption and the uncontrollable trajectory of prices of essential goods and services,” said Dr Prashant Sidana, 28, a dentist from Mayur Vihar. Police said no law and order problems were reported from the venue throughout the day.
