At least three Air India staffers were injured in a scuffle with irate passengers of a delayed Tokyo-bound flight at IGI airport.

At least three Air India staffers were injured in a scuffle with irate passengers of a delayed Tokyo-bound flight at Delhi's IGI Airport around midnight, airline sources said on Monday.

The flight AI-307 was delayed by about seven hours and the passengers were later provided accommodation in a hotel, the sources said, adding the flight would now leave around 1300 hours.

The passengers, who had blocked the Air India counter delaying clearance of other flights, were angry over the delay and non-provision of hotel accommodation for them and clashed with Air India staffers, the sources said adding CISF personnel were then called in.

The incident came hours after five international flights of the national carrier were delayed by two to six hours. These were bound for destinations like London, New York, Birmingham, Toronto, Dubai, Bangkok and Muscat.
