The group of eight students put up a street play protesting the indifferent attitude of society as a whole when it comes to eveteasing and security of women.

Rather than bashing the police for the murder of the 20-year-old who was shot dead atop a pedestrian bridge on Tuesday, the students urged the people to introspect and be more vigilant when it comes to women’s safety.

“We thought of doing something in our own way to express solidarity with Radhika. We prepared the play within a few hours and we were able to reach the audience,” said Vaibhav Chaddha, president of the dramatics society.

The theme of the play was about the inaction of society.

“We wanted to ask everyone why they did not stop the killer. Why they do not stop eveteasing on the roads. Why they do not stop men from stalking women. Why the fear? These were the issues we raised,” said Harman Preet Kaur, a member of the society.

Students of the college also held a silent protest in the college against the killing. Other protests were held in both the North Campus as well as the South Campus.

“We need action and we want it quick. We will keep agitating till the killer is caught,” said Dheeraj Gurjar, a student at Moti Lal Nehru College.

The Delhi University Students’ Union has called for a two-day strike in the university on Friday.
