Ansari terms whistleblower corrupt; may land in controversy
A whistleblower has knocked the doors of a city court against purported remarks of Information Commissioner MM Ansari calling him "corrupt" during a talk show on a television channel.
Former Chief Manager at Indian Oil Corporation MK Tyagi approached Metropolitan Magistrate Munish Marken with a complaint of defamation against Ansari.
Repeated attempts to reach Ansari failed as he neither replied to questions sent to him nor took calls in this regard.
The petitioner, 62-year old Tyagi, complained that during the the debate on the talk show, Ansari had made critical remarks against him calling him corrupt.
Tyagi, in his plea, has asked the court to punish Ansari for his alleged comments under section 499 of Indian Penal Code which relates to defamation.
