Women bureaucrats should be pleased. Taking immediate notice of the Hindustan Times report Appraisal form shocks women bureaucrats, the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry on Wednesday asked the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to remove the ‘objectionable’ sections of the new appraisal form.

The HT report had pointed towards the intrusive nature of the new form, which asked, among other things, woman officers about their menstrual history, and when they last took maternity leave.

Deepa Jain Singh, secretary, WCD, has written a letter to the DoPT secretary seeking a review of the form. She told HT: “The appraisal form should be revisited and amended. The health check-up prescribed for lady officers is highly objectionable as it has nothing to do with their work”.

WCD Minister Renuka Chowdhury has also asked to see a copy of the form, after verbal complaints from women officers starting pouring into the ministry on Wednesday.
