Bansal suicide: DCW chief Swati Maliwal gives CBI 48 hours to explain probe

In the notice addressed to CBI director Anil Kumar Sinha, DCW chief Swati Maliwal gave 48 hours to furnish information about the probe and the manner in which it is being conducted, failing which, she stated, “appropriate action will be taken as per law.”

Maliwal sought to know whether the CBI has ordered an independent inquiry into the allegation made by Bansal in his suicide note and if not, the reasons for the same. Bansals had named five officials of CBI, who allegedly traumatised them.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a shocking instance of alleged victimisation and abetment of suicide of the family of an accused. The DCW is deeply concerned about the same and has taken up the case of the alleged torture and suicide of the wife and daughter of Mr Bansal,” the notice stated.

Bansal and his son, Yogesh, were found dead in their east Delhi flat on Tuesday. Earlier in July, his 58-year-old wife, Satya Bala, and 28-year-old daughter were found dead in the same rooms of their Madhu Vihar apartment.

Maliwal urged the CBI to explore the possibility of conducting narco tests on those named in the suicide note. She further questioned whether an FIR for abetment to suicide has been filed against those named in the suicide note and demanded action against them.
