"While the Salimgarh bypass will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on September 11, the Barapulla elevated road will be inaugurated on September 14," said a senior Delhi government official, requesting anonymity.

The bypass was opened for a trial run on August 26 and started crumbling just three days after.

"That was due to the fact that it had only two layers. We will have added the three other layers well in time before it is formally inaugurated on September 11," said a senior PWD official.

The Barapulla elevated road was blocked due to debris clogging the drain flowing underneath as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Public Works Department passed the buck to each other.

"The elevated road will be in good shape well in time before it is inaugurated by the Chief Minister," the official added.
