A politician and a poet. She started penning poems when she was just 14. She has attended and recited poems in hundreds of kavi sammelans not only India but also in UK, US and Mauritius. Has authored a book, “Bhid Me Jab Ham Akele”. She lives in Safdarjung Enclave.

Education: MA in Hindi from Lucknow University.

Political career: Entered politics in 2003 after getting the assembly ticket from RK Puram. Prior to this, her husband Ashok Singh was the MLA from the same seat.

Family: Husband Ashok Singh is a Congress politician. He also has his own business. They have a son, who is a second year student in Amity Law College. Daughter studies in Delhi Public School, RK Puram.

Cars: The family owns a black Mahindra Scorpio and a grey-coloured Skoda Octavia. As chairman of the Delhi Commission for Women, she gets a white Ambassador.
