According to the registrar of the university, RK Sinha, the decision to approve the syllabus to be implemented under semester system in the coming session was unanimous.
Before the committee passed the courses, a coordination committee was set up to modify the syllabi which had suggested changes in the curriculam that were formulated last year.
“Last year, the university formed a coordination committee and they were asked to take inputs from all colleges regarding the formation of syllabus in BCom (programme) and BCom (Hons). We tried to take into account the concerns of all the teachers regarding dilution of courses,” said a member of the coordination committee.
“Hence, instead of 24 papers which was proposed last
year we have 26 papers in the BCom (Hons). Also new topics such as indirect taxes and international business have been added to the new syllabi,” the member added.
A total of 41,000 undergraduate students are enrolled with the department of commerce.
The semester syllabi were also approved by the committee of courses in BSc Statistics (Hons) and BA (Hons) Music.
