“On the eve of the 24th anniversary of that tragic event, as we honour the memory of the innocent victims of this grim tragedy, the best homage we can pay to them is to work earnestly to rid the world of the scourge of terrorism,” he said commemorating the deadliest terrorist attack involving an aircraft.

Singh said “on this sad day, my thoughts go out to all those who lost their loved ones in the crash”.

On June 23, 1985, AI “Kanishka” flight 182 left Montreal London for Delhi. It never reached its destination as the aircraft exploded in the air and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about 200 km from the Coast of Cork in Ireland. None of the 329 persons on board survived.
