Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel alleged the students are encouraged to use unfair means to get good results. “Shockingly, the students are encouraged to cheat and use unfair means during board examinations to ensure that Delhi government can boast of high pass percentages. The government has put the future of lakhs of students at stake,” Goel said.
Goel added that a survey conducted by his party revealed that the attendance records in Delhi government schools were fudged and the quality of education poor.
“The teachers in these schools are forced to promote students to the next level as there is pressure from the higher ups, to show good progress of students,” he alleged.
Goel’s allegations evoked strong reaction from Delhi education minister Kiran Walia. “He has ridiculed government school children and must render an apology. Our students have done well in exams despite all odds,” Walia said.
