Malhotra, accompanied by senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitely and Sushma Swaraj and Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal and INLD leader Om Prakash Chautala, submitted his nomination papers before the Additional District Magistrate Bansh Raj.

Sporting saffron caps with lotus symbol on it, a large number of workers gathered at the ADM office in Shahjahan Road and shouted slogans for Malhotra's victory.

Malhotra's son Ajay Malhotra told reporters that the BJP would get two third majority in the 70-member Delhi assembly for which elections would be held on November 29.

"People of Delhi will oust the Congress government which has failed to control inflation, law and order and put hardship to the public by sealing commercial establishments," he said.

Malhotra's family conducted a havan at their residence in the morning, seeking divine intervention for his victory.

"Saturday is an auspicious day. We prayed to god by conducting havan in the morning. The family is geared up for the campaigning," he said.

Malhotra, a sitting MP from South Delhi, has been always in touch with the people of Greater Kailash, his son said.

"The people in the area are elated over my father being the chief ministerial candidate," he said.

It was utter chaos at the ADM office when Malhotra arrived in Greater Kailash to submit his papers. Scores of party workers, gathered in front of the ADM office, beat drums and danced to celebrate the occasion.

The other leaders who came to the AMD office included Vijay Goel, Harsh Vardhan and Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sufi singer Hansraj Hans sang songs outside the ADM office when Malhotra was filing his papers.

Security arrangement was tightened and media persons were not allowed inside office to cover the event.
