Chiranjeev Nath Sinha, a key prosecution witness and a police official posted in Lucknow, has not turned up before the court despite repeated reminders.

Additional District Judge Laxmi Kant Shukla recently issued notices to two top Lucknow police officials, the DIG and the SSP, in this regard.

Making strong observations against the police official, he said because of Sinha's repeated absence, the judicial process was lingering and the trial of the accused was being hampered without any reason.

The court also ordered the jail administration to ensure proper water facility for the accused and provide them Urdu newspapers regularly.

It also instructed the jail administration to arrange Iftaar for the accused.

The accused, lodged in Unnao prison due to construction work going on in Lucknow jail, have requested the court for water, Urdu newspapers and hosting of the Iftar.

Near-simultaneous bomb blasts ripped through court complexes in Lucknow and Faizabad on November 23, 2007 killing five people and wounding more than 50.
