There will be various activities in the initiative, including groundwater recharge, reduction of water wastage and use of treated waste water.

The board, which has joined hands with FORCE for the initiative, organised a meeting of the strategic planning panel. This panel will have government representatives as well as those from civil society organisations.

Ramesh Negi, DJB CEO, said, the water body will extend all support to facilitate link-ups with other government organisations for this cause and for supporting people's initiative.

"The government can be a torchbearer for the campaign by ensuring that all government buildings are water secure," he added. He also said that information about water conservation measures will be shared with other government departments too.
