Morani was charge-sheeted by the CBI as an accused in case for allegedly routing kickback money from his production house, Cineyug, to the DMK-owned Kalaignar TV and pocketing R6 crore in the process.

CBI special judge OP Saini said while denying him bail: “I may reluctantly add that the accused has used every possible legal subterfuge to delay the ultimate, as he had filed seven applications within a span of less than one month.” Morani had sought leniency stating his ill health.

Commenting on the Morani's health, the court said Tihar had proper medical facilities, and in a case of emergency, Morani could visit the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Later in the day, the Delhi high court reserved its order on the bail pleas of Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar.
