Brace for chilly days ahead, trouble for morning flyers

According to the weatherman, flight schedules may get severely affected between 5.30am and 8.30am due to dense fog at the airport on both the days.

“The temperature is low and it’s quite humid. These conditions lead to the formation of fog. We expect dense fog cover on Monday and Tuesday,” said RK Jenamani, director in-charge of the MeT office at the IGI Airport.

Fog forecasts made in late November and early December, however, were not accurate. “There was a lot of windy activity in the city then. But this time around, the wind factor is missing, so we are expecting dense fog. If the wind pattern changes in a few hours, the fog may disappear,” Jenamani said On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, while the minimum was recorded as 5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal. The Capital will witness a foggy morning on Monday, but the sky will be clear during the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 23 and 7 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 21.8 and 5 degrees Celsius, respectively. In the past few days, the mercury has shown a downward trend, with a decline in both the maximum and minimum temperatures.
