Ten people died and thousands were affected as flood waters inundated low lying areas following incessant rains in north India on Thursday. In Uttar Pradesh alone, eight people, including four children, died in rain related incidents. Several villagers in Punjab and Haryana continued to be on alert as heavy showers pounded the two states.
Flood situation in Bihar improves
The overall flood situation in Bihar improved on Thursday with water level of the Gandak and Kosi rivers receding in absence of rains since yesterda. 2.30 lakh people continue to reel under the impact of floods in West Champaran district. According to Central Water Commission, most of the major rivers were receding.
