Brawl in Priya complex turns ugly, one shot at

A brawl at the posh Basant Lok market took an ugly turn when a 20-year-old youth, Gaurav, was critically injured after he was shot, reports HT Correspondent.

A brawl at the posh Basant Lok market took an ugly turn when a 20-year-old youth, Gaurav, was critically injured after he was shot. Two rounds of gunfire were opened, injuring Gaurav.

The incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday, when Gaurav and his friends were returning home. A police officer said Gaurav saw two groups clashing outside the Priya Complex in Basant Lok and tried to intervene.

One of the men whipped out a pistol and shot at Gaurav. Police said after opening fire at Gaurav, the accused fled from the spot. Gaurav was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is recuperating.

Gaurav is in second year of college and lives nearby.

Police said they have managed to trace the registration number of the car the accused were driving, with Gaurav’s help. “We have managed to identify the

vehicle and would arrest the persons involved in the crime soon,” said a senior police officer.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Vasant Vihar police station. Police said the accused may have been returning from a pub in the nearby complex and may have been drunk.
